Joint technology development with aidea Inc.
HTL Corporation (Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President: Ryoichi Yoshikawa; hereinafter “HTL”) is developing solar cells and all solid-state batteries as next-generation energy technologies. HTL launched its Zero Emission products Laboratory in September, and has been promoting development in collaboration with universities and companies in Japan and overseas.
HTL is aiming to develop and ship products that operate solely on renewable energy by the end of FY2012 by implementing the above-mentioned technology in its own energy-saving device “WITHiS”.
(Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Motohide Ikeda; hereinafter referred to as “aidea”) to start a cooperative project for technological development, etc. in December 2011.

1. Joint Technology Development

2. Joint operation of the Zero Emission products laboratory
HTL and aidea are in the process of converting the Zero Emission products Laboratory established by HTL in September 2023 into a joint stock company by February 2024.
Both parties will combine their expertise and resources to promote joint projects. The institute will involve not only university-industry-academia collaboration, but also Japanese and overseas companies.
3. Division of Roles
In addition to its own solar cells, HTL aims to commercialize all-solid-state batteries.
Initially, the company was developing these cells exclusively for its own products and weak electric devices such as notebook PCs.
Through this collaboration, HTL and Aidea have decided to jointly develop batteries and solar cells for use in Aidea’s EV motorcycles. Meanwhile, aidea aims to use and mass produce all-solid-state batteries for vehicles and sell them to users focused on demand response.
4. Future Prospects
For the time being, both companies will focus on developing new technologies and products, targeting both domestic and international markets. On top of that, we plan to speedily expand our business globally.
